Framatome, a French company and one of the global leaders in the nuclear energy sector, has inaugurated a new branch in Italy, with offices in Turin and Milan, the latter located at PoliHub in via Durando, as part of the agreement between the company, Edison and Politecnico di Milano.
A decisive step for the development of nuclear energy in Italy and Europe: Framatome, a French company and one of the global leaders in the nuclear energy sector, has announced the opening of a new branch in Italy, with offices in Milan and Turin. This marks an important expansion of the company’s activities in Europe, reinforcing its cooperation with Italy and contributing to the growth of the low-carbon energy sector.
The inauguration of Framatome’s Milan office, located at PoliHub in via Durando, took place on November 7 in the presence of several distinguished guests, including the French Ambassador to Italy, Martin Briens, the French Consul General in Milan, François Bonet, the CEO of Edison, Nicola Monti, the CEO of Framatome, Bernard Fontana, and Professor Marco Ricotti, Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Politecnico di Milano.
“The creation of this branch marks a new step in our long-standing and fruitful collaboration with Italy,” said Bernard Fontana, CEO of Framatome. Fontana went on to highlight the key role of top-tier universities such as Politecnico di Milano—the first university in Italy to commit to education and research in the nuclear sector since the 1950s—and how such institutions represent a fundamental resource for developing long-term skills in the nuclear industry.
The opening of the Italian branch is part of a broader context of increasing collaboration between the French company, Edison, and Politecnico di Milano, following the scientific and technological cooperation agreement signed last July. The agreement aims to promote research and education in the nuclear field. The strengthening of ties between industry and academia translates into new opportunities for the training of highly qualified engineers, ready to face global challenges related to the energy transition.
The arrival of Framatome in Milan and Turin therefore represents a significant milestone in consolidating the company’s presence in Italy, at a time when nuclear energy is increasingly at the center of sustainable energy transition strategies. With a strong focus on training, innovation, and skills development, Framatome aims to contribute to the future of low-carbon energy—an objective that will also be pursued through close cooperation with Italian academic institutions and industrial partners.
The branch will be led by Emanuele Martinolli, a 1999 alumnus in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, who has spent the past twenty years at Framatome’s Paris headquarters. Martinolli thanked the Edison and PoliHub teams for their operational support in establishing the new office, which enabled the project to move forward at remarkable speed.
